Green Line Design Charrette for 40th Avenue

Plans for the Green Line continue to move forward. Now there's an opportunity for residents to provide their input into key station areas along the North segment, including the one at 40th Avenue North and Centre Street. Unlike our current C-Trains, Green Line trains will be "low-floor", similar to this example, which creates opportunities for more integrated street station designs.

So next week, starting Monday Oct 17th the city is requesting our participation for 3 evenings and a Saturday afternoon in a "Design Charrette" exercise to help shape development of the surrounding station area. From the city:

There will be a 4 day Transit Oriented Development (TOD) workshop taking place between October 17 and 22. This workshop is also known as a Design Charette. A charette is a multi-day, collaborative planning workshop led by a consultant team that brings together citizens, area business owners, developers, and policy makers to create a plan for the area surrounding the future LRT station that will be located at Centre St and 40 Ave N.

The intent is to create a plan for the station and the possibilities for development in the area around it that is feasible and that supports the community. You'll be able to contribute to building the future of your community -- both of the actual station and what type of buildings, businesses, and other infrastructure will surround it in future. This is where community voices can be heard, and as per City Council's motion on July 5 in regards to the development of the golf course, we can "ensure coordination with the Green Line project."
